A Different Take

I was seating in this auto-rickshaw back seat today.. when a young lady about my age came up to the Auto , and sat next to the driver on the right hand side. Suddenly i realised that i had not got out and given her my seat like i used to earlier during my school days.
With the wake of the whole womens liberalisation movement, i suddenly find it to be impertinent to the same. Don't get me wrong here. Not that i am not a chauvinist but yet, i do not do this as an act of chauvinism.. But as an extreme act of feminism. In the sense if i had got down from my seat and given it to her it would be as if i was saying lady you are fragile enough to not be able to seat in front seat, and she would have not liked it at all.
Hence to not demean her i do not leave my seat these days. Its different when it comes to senior citizens. I would have done that in either cases, without considering their sexes.

Similarly i would disagree to the concept of constituencies reserved for women candidates.. its like telling them you are not competent enough to fight with men when fitted against you.

What I write might be the start of another debate albeit in between the individuals who read the above blog.

I do agree with you on the first incident wherein it is more towards of respect to the other gender that you did not give up your seat.

On the second count, starting the debate I would just like to ask not to anybody specific, but to everybody in general; why is it that we have seperate queues for ladies in almost every department we go to; why is it that there are seperate seatings for ladies on transport vehicles- be it Kolkata, New Delhi or Dubai (which is touted as a very safe place for women); and still they claim that they are left out and we are a superior gender trying to stopthem from reaching the top

Because some women in India seek protection.. they think every man in this country are about to grope them or molest them at drop of the hat, yes its true, some uncouth do that, but i am not sure again its required.
But think about it this if you have girls along with you in a movie .. ask her to get the tickets , as the queue on her end is always far shorter
